Justin Stravers: I choose to be a part of Katie’s Crusaders because I believe that it is important to engage your community and help one another as we work through the many twists and turns life throws at us.  Katie’s Crusaders not only offers financial help to families dealing with breast cancer, it brings families together and gives them a place to talk through the challenges they are facing and create life long friendships.  Katie’s Crusaders is a constant reminder that together people can accomplish great things!!

Kelli Stravers: It could be me! That’s why I sit on the board for Katie’s Crusaders. With a family history of breast cancer, I know that any day the doctor could use the big “C” when talking to me. Knowing what our Crusaders have to go through, the least I can do is be by their side supporting them and HOPING for the best along side of them.

Cindy Adams: I serve on the board of Katie’s Crusaders to make a difference in the lives of families that have been affected by Breast Cancer. I want to be a part of a nonprofit organization that is giving back to families to help them financially with medical cost or other cost they endure due to Breast Cancer.

Christina Foreman: When I first decided to become part of the Katie’s Crusaders board it was with the thought of ‘I have some ideas on how to improve this race’. But now, it’s become so much more than that. It’s about giving back and supporting our Crusaders through one of the most financially challenging and emotional chapters in their lives. We are a unique organization because we do provide both financial and emotional support. The number of friendships built along the way is incredible. I love race morning! It is so awesome to see all the family members, friends, coworkers, and even strangers come out to support our Crusaders. And also knowing that all of our hard work for the year really has paid off.

Tim Mangan: Helping to run Katie’s Crusaders has been a privilege for me and my family. Before my wife, Katie, was diagnosed with cancer, we did not participate that much in volunteer or community support activities. When I saw the outpouring of support and affection for my wife when she went through her battle with breast cancer, it really changed me and has made me want to spend as much of my time as I can to give back to others. Katie’s Crusaders is a great vehicle to raise money for families in need, but the greatest part of it for me is getting to meet so many great people, and helping those people see the benefit of serving others and giving back to their community.

Angie Plagman: I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 37 and was nominated to be a recipient of Katie’s Crusaders.  I went into this thinking of the help it would bring me financially but quickly learned that the financial support didn’t mean nearly as much as the support and friendships that were made with some pretty amazing women that I now call my “breast sisters”.  I decided to become a part of Katie’s Crusaders board so that I can pay back the support and love I received to other women going through the fight of their lives.  It is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Katie Mangan: After I was diagnosed and helped by so many I chose to help create this team of volunteers to make families feel like they have support in every way, shape and form.  It is very heart warming to write that check and know that you are helping them pay a bill, fix a car that might have broke down or just put that money towards medical.  It feels amazing to give back.
